Alice Yerdon


Alice Yerdon, 86, of Canton, passed away on Friday evening October 12, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

There will be no calling hours or services. Alice, and her loving husband of 65 years, Vic, who predeceased her, will have their ashes spread together over the ocean from their favorite beach in Maine. Alice was born on April 1, 1932 in Peekskill, NY, the daughter of late Raymond and Ruth (Fraser) Olmsted. Alice graduated from Canajoharie High School.

On April 8, 1950 she married Francis ‘Vic’ Yerdon in Canajoharie Methodist Church. Alice was a homemaker and mother first and later in life worked at Goff-Nelson Memorial Library in Tupper Lake and Rite-Aid in Norwich, NY as a pharmacy assistant.

When Vic retired, they moved to South Otselic, where Vic ran the South Otselic Store and Alice ran the breakfast and lunch bar. Alice enjoyed cross-country skiing, camping, traveling to New England, M.G. Club meets and car shows with Vic and their 1954 MG TD and ceramics in her earlier years, and more recently, she took pleasure in listening and talking with her friends at the Partridge Knoll, in Canton.

Surviving Alice are two daughters Laura Yerdon Martin of Tucker, GA; and Brenda and Edward Bennett of Massena, NY; two granddaughters Sarah and Derek Constantine of Hull, MA, Jennifer Martin of Tucson, AZ; a great-grandson Theodore Albert Constantine and great-granddaughter Augusta Beatrice Constantine. Also surviving Alice is a sister Roberta and brother in-law Thomas McCarthy both of Cherry Valley, NY. Alice was predeceased by a brother Joseph Olmsted of Yorktown Heights, NY and a sister Thelma Tiberio of Canajoharie, NY.
