Elverd John Frink


Elverd John “Jack” Frink, DVM, 91 of Norwich, NY passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 after a brief illness.

Jack was a native of Norwich, attended Norwich schools from which he graduated in January of 1945.

After graduation he joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Upon his discharge from the Navy he attended Cortland College where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree. He also attended Cornell University where he achieved his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1958.

Jack was an alumnus of the Omega Tau Sigma fraternal order of Veterinary Medicine. Jack taught Biology at Norwich High School and started his Veterinary Practice serving Norwich and surrounding communities for 55 years from 1958 until his retirement in 2013.

Jack was fascinated with history, especially the Civil War and was a member of the Chenango County Historical Society. He loved antique cars and belonged to the Rolling Antiquers Old Car Club. He enjoyed music, especially old country songs and Irish ballads. He played the banjo and sang in local musical groups for many years.

Jack was predeceased by his parents Elverd Devern and Beatrice Alice Judd Frink. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Constance Frink Willard and husband Raymond of Baldwinsville and Venice FL, three nieces and several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his special friend of many years Jerelynn Mason.

Calling hours for Jack will be held on Saturday, October 6, at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home from 10-12 followed by a funeral service at 12:00 Noon. Committal services for Jack will be held on Monday at 1:30 pm from the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to any local animal rescue or shelter of your choice to honor his memory.
