Esther Dungey


SHERBURNE – Esther M. Dungey, 84, of Chapel St., passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility.
She was born May 16, 1925 in Solsville, a daughter of Willis and Anna Marris Neff and received her education in Sherburne schools. On Feb. 17, 1980 Esther married Albert F. Dungey in Sherburne. He predeceased her on Nov. 15, 1981. Esther was a Sherburne resident most of her life where she had worked for the Sherburne Knitting Mill, T.A.C.O. and the Sherburne Inn as well as doing home health care. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Sherburne.
Surviving are two sons, Charles E. Bice of Earlville and David E. Bice of Norwich; two daughters, Barbara Ann Hill of Morrisville; Ruth (Sid) Plows of Sherburne; a step-son, Richard Dungey of Sherburne; five step-daughters, Margaret Palmer of S. Hamilton; Mary Doing of Coventry; Linda Dungey of Sherburne; Vanessa Pullman of Greene and Nancy Dungey of Earlville; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two step-sons, Donald and Charles Dungey; a grandson, Donald Dungey, Jr.; a sister, Stella Pierce and a brother, Donald Fairbanks.
In keeping with Esther’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
