Carole Monyene Pike Beckwith


Carole Monyene Pike Beckwith, 84, of Plymouth, NY passed away after a long fight with Alzheimers on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home with family by her side.

Carole was born on May 24, 1934 in Plymouth the daughter of Cyrus and Berna (Wales) Pike. She married Eugene Beckwith on September 30, 1951 in Plymouth.

Carole worked side by side on the family farm with her husband for over 32 years.

During that time she also worked at the Wales General Store in Plymouth. She also worked as the Plymouth Town Clerk and for the Chenango Valley Home.

She was also a very active community member participating In many organizations including the Historical Society, the South Side Cemetery Association, Plymouth Days, the Plymouth Grange and the Plymouth Fire Department Auxiliary.

Being the very active community member that Carole was, she was passionate about the importance of every child learning how to swim. Carole structured, developed and successfully helped the children in the community how to swim. Carole and Gene opened the family pool for certified lessons and training for over 150 kids throughout a number of years.

Carole’s hobbies included ceramics and gardening. She was a big helper in keeping the flower gardens in tip top shape.

Carole has seven children Nancy Davis, adopted daughter Patti Griffitt, Guy Beckwith, Steve (Sharlene) Beckwith, Sue (William) Buckley, Karen (Mitch) Scrivener, Tab (Vonna) Beckwith and Aaron (Bert) Beckwith and wife Melinda. Also surviving are grandchildren Douglas, Lance and Chad O’Hara, Patrick Shaver, Renee Beckwith Reese and Teresa Beckwith Eckert, Jennifer Reed and Stephen Beckwith, Traci and Daniel Buckley, Erik, Alan and Taya Law, Evan Scrivener, Alan Marshall, Tylor and Carole Beckwith, Troy and Bryan Beckwith.

She had over 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as a half sister Denise Bullock. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Carole was predeceased by her husband Eugene, granddaughters Michele Reed and Lena Beckwith and Gary Eddy who was a foster child that lived with the Beckwith family.

The Chase Nursing Home will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the special care given to our mom over the last few years.

A service for Carole will be held on Wednesday, August 1, at 1:00 p.m. from the South Side Cemetery in Plymouth. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
