Milton John Hubschmitt Jr.


Milton John Hubschmitt Jr. 86, of Oxford, Passed away on July 4, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Milton is predeceased by his parents Milton J. Hubschmitt Sr. and Katherine Honan and his brother Rodger Hubschmitt.

Milton is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Helen Hubschmitt and his two children Michael (Nancy) Hubschmitt of Glenfield, NY and Leslie (Gerry) Reiss of Oxford, NY.

He is also survived by his six grandchildren Kellie Reiss, Michael (Katie) Reiss, Kyle (Christine) Reiss, Dr. Jessica (Eric) Reiss-Richmond, Tracy (Christopher) Lewis, Captains Krista (Adam) King. Also surviving Milt are his two great granddaughters Emmalee Reiss and Esther Lewis and his youngest brother Larry Hubschmitt. There were always two faithful companions by his side Freddie “Frieda” and Louie “That handsome devil.”

Milton was born in Paterson, NJ. During his high school years was when he met his future wife.

He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and upon graduation he entered into the United States Air Force, where most of his time was spent on the island of Crete.

Upon coming state side, he married his wife of 65 years on August 30, 1952. After marriage Milt went to work for Bell Telephone Co. of New Jersey and in the late 1960’s Milt moved his family to Upstate NY where he went to work for C&U/Contel/ Frontier Communications until his retirement.

In his spare time, he loved the outdoor life, spending time hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding his motor cycle. In later years Milt enjoyed watching NASCAR and rooting for his favorite driver Dale Jarrett. “Not good on short track” as dad always said.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Milt’s name can be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central NY Chapter.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830.

There will be no services held at this time.
