Linda L. Slater


Linda L. Slater, 70, of South Plymouth passed away July 7, 2018 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown surrounded by her family. On November 16, 1947, Linda was born to the late Stanley and Marian (Williams) Collins in Norwich, New York.

On March 18, 1967, Linda married Lawrence Slater in Plymouth, New York, where they built a home and raised their three children.

Linda leaves her loving husband of 51 years, Lawrence Slater, their daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Floyd Shepard and their children; Cassandra, Robert, and Kyle; their son, Larry Slater and his son O’Rion; and their son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Anna Slater and their children; Brennan, Brianna, and Brooke.

Linda has five siblings: her sister, Peggy Wheeler; and brothers, Stanley (Butch) Collins, Rick and Jill Collins, Robert (Bobby) Collins, and Mark Collins. Linda was predeceased by sisters Robin Miller and Florence Collins. Linda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Linda was seen supporting and cheering on her grandchildren at their football, track, basketball, wrestling, softball, and cheerleading events.
In her spare time, she enjoyed camping and being with her family and friends.

Linda was a longtime member of the CV Free Church in Norwich. Linda will be remembered for being a dedicated mother and grandmother who was always with her family.

A funeral service for Linda will be held at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St., Norwich on Friday July 13th beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jen Westerveldt officiating.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in South Otselic, followed by a celebration of life at the Plymouth Fire Department.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
