Victor M. Pettit

Victor Miles Pettit, 75, of Morrisville, formerly of Otselic, NY, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

He was born on September 3, 1942 in Norwich, NY and was a graduate of South Otselic Central School. Victor was raised by his grandparents on a farm in Otselic.

He learned to work hard at a young age and later ran his own dairy farm until he sold it in 1980. He continued to work seven days a week helping Gerald and Phyllis Evans on their Sunny Acres Farm, partly because, instead of telling him what to do, they “asked me nicely”.

He worked until he had a run-in with a bull, and that encounter ended his farming career.

His interests included trains, bowling, Thursday night Bingo and classic country music. He always loved the times spent with his family and friends.

Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Pettit of Schenectady and Nancy Pettit of Georgetown; and a grandson, Bryan Pettit of Georgetown. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Jack and Nina Pettit; his mother, Fern Pettit; a son, Victor Karl Pettit; and an uncle Roland Pettit.
Memorial Services will be held at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11am.

Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Otselic, followed by a reception at the Georgetown Town Hall.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9-11am prior to the service.

Victor’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center in Cooperstown, and at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse for their compassionate care.

“You’ve got to have good thoughts. A sense of humor helps. Keep your spirits up. Enjoy what you’ve got.”
