Genevieve E. Blackman


Genevieve E. Blackman, of 123 Tarbell Road, Smithville Flats, NY, passed away on May 11, 2018 at Mountainside Residential Care in Margaretville, NY.

Genevieve was 90 years of age.

She died peacefully with family at her side.

Genevieve (Genny) was born on November 20, 1927 in Guilford, NY. She was the only daughter of Ernest and Hazel Clark Foote.

She married Carroll Blackman June 11, 1949 in Pittstown, NY. Carroll died on May 24, 2005; they were companions for 56 years.

Genny is survived by nieces, Patricia K. Clark and Mary Ellen Clodfelter, nephews, Micheal Clark, Kevin Clark, Douglas Clark and Robert Clodfelter and cousins, Evelyn Rodgers, Dennis Foote and Eric Foote, three grandnephews, one grandniece and several great grandnephews and grandnieces.

Genny will be remembered by those who knew her and loved her for her kindness, caring, and generosity.

She had a lively wit and a dry sense of humor that made her great company.

She had a kind word for everyone and never judged anyone on the basis of their race or creed. She was truly a friend to all and especially loved animals and nature. She will sorely missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

A special thanks to those who cared for Genny to allow her live her own home until she was 89 and for the exceptional care she received at Mountainside Residential Care.

A private graveside ceremony to honor and remember beloved Aunt Genny will be held at the Smithville Flats cemetery in June, 2018. Family and friends will be invited to attend.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the National Wildlife Federation or any other charity protecting animals or wildlife.
