Joseph Knoll, Jr.


Joseph Knoll, Jr. 78 of Oxford. The family of Joe Knoll wishes to let you know of his passing on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born on February 8,1940 in Sidney, NY a son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Anna (Niesz) Knoll.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta of Oxford; his children, Jacquelyn Knoll-Carr and her husband Tim of Oxford and his son, Eric of Oxford; his brother Robert (Sharon) Knoll of Ohio; his sister, Patty Erickson of Connecticut; and his grandchildren, Jacob Carr, Erica Carr, Joe Knoll, Kurt Knoll and Eric Klugh. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Menard.
Joe was graduate of Guilford High School, Class of 1957, Broome Community College and Tri-State College. He was an engineer for Bendix Corp. in Sidney for many years and while assigned to Michigan helped manufacture sniper scopes for the military. He was an avid pilot, owning several airplanes over the years. He enjoyed singing with the Midstatesmen Barbershop Chorus. He proudly served on the Oxford Academy and Central School Board of Education and then on the BOCES Board. He helped restart the Boy Scout program in Oxford. He was an avid bow and gun hunter,and was known for his ability to fix anything.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Tuesday, April 17 from noon until 2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Academy Music Department, PO Box 190, Oxford, NY or the American Diabetes Assn.
