Lee Burt Jeffrey


Lee Burt Jeffrey, Sr., 71, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Palmetto Richland in Columbia.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg. Minister by Chuck Bourgeois. Music will be provided by Hank the D.J.

Mr. Jeffrey was born on April 12, 1946 in Norwich, New York. He was the son of the late Homer Earl Jeffrey and the late Nettie Rubie Collins Jeffrey “Hulla Girl”.

He attended Oxford School then Norwich High School. Mr. Jeffrey was a member of the United States Air Force. He was a hard worker and a loving husband and father.

He was a farmer and worked at a foundry in Norwich, New York, then moved to Orangeburg where he was a truck driver. He liked Orangeburg so much that he moved his wife and family.

While in Orangeburg, Mr. Jeffrey worked at Shady Grove Nursery, Dean Dempsey and Sunshine Recycling. He also worked with Santee Carrier and Talley Corbett.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 4 and was the past commander of the Orangeburg County Veterans Council. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as a great-grandson, Matthew Jeffrey and brothers, Walter Jeffrey and Danny Jeffrey.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Jeanette Jeffrey; sons, Lee and Eunice “Libby” Jeffrey, Michael Jeffrey, Robbie and Tricia Jeffrey; daughter, Delores Zorn; grandchildren, Homer, Charity, Joshua, Carla, Charlet (Jamie Gray), Bobbie Lynn (Curtis Hughes), Benjamin (Sarah Herndon), Kayla, Lakyn, Brandy, Haylee, Rebecca, Harley; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Hunter, Trey, Alexis, Anthony, Calvin, Keylee, Wayne, Jr., Gabrielle, Bailey, Drake, Emma, Hagen; brother, Roger and Lorie Jeffrey, Sr.; sister, Marjorie and Bradley Bates; daughter-in-law, Terri Jeffrey; close friends, Bob and Annie Robinson and a beloved pet, Mickey.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. at 1012 Whitman Street Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.
