Loren A. Wildenstein


Loren A. Wildenstein, 79, of New Berlin, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Valley View Nursing Home.
Loren was born in Honesdale, PA on August 10, 1938 the son of Ralph and Flora (Freer) Wildenstein. At the early age of three he with his family to the Mt. Upton area where he attended the local school. A veteran of the United States Army he served his country until his honorable discharge in August of 1962.
Loren, along with his father Ralph, owned and operated R&L Log Homes in Guilford from 1970 – 1992. He then went to Tennessee where he worked as a supervisor on a highway bridge crew for Highways Inc. In 2000 he moved to New Berlin where he continued to make his home and was “somewhat” retired. It was not his nature to retire and sit idle and he always kept moving. Loren was always into something rather it was logging, cutting firewood or working with scrap steel. He was excellent at math problems which he always computed in his head, no paper or pencil. A lover of flowers and nature he enjoyed working with his wife Peggy in her flower garden.
On September 29, 1989 he married Peggy Bishop who survives. Besides his wife Peggy of New Berlin Loren is survived by his children; Darin Wildenstein of South New Berlin, Nancy (Bruce ) Beadle of Norwich, Loren Allan Wildenstein and Autumn Knorth of Harpursville and Rebecca (Richard) Neu of Colorado City, TX along with 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings; Myrna Schuldt and companion Rick of Port Crane, Hazel (Ronald) Fuller of Guilford, Francis (Katherine) Wildenstein of Bainbridge, R. Vernon (Judy) Wildenstein of Walton, Ronald (Joan) Wildenstein of Guilford, his mother-in-law Anna Bishop of New Berlin, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loren was predeceased by his son Donald Wildenstein, step-son Terry Lee DeMouth and canine friend Humphrey.
A funeral service for Loren will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11-1pm.
