Anita Benedict


OXFORD – Anita M. Benedict, 75, of Kingsley, Pa., died Saturday at Meadow View Senior Living Center. Her husband, Lee Benedict, passed away Nov. 10, 1007.
Born on the old family farm on Cheese Factory Road in Oxford, daughter of Mary (Dominic) Lashway and the late Earl Lashway. Lee and Anita built Shore Forest Campground, Hop Bottom, Pa., and operated it for 15 years. They also operated Benedict Market for three years, and she was a Susquehanna County recycling manager for six years. She was associated with the crime watch organization for the sheriff’s office in Ocala, Fla. She was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church, Montrose, Pa.; and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Ocala, Fla., where she was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in its choir.
Also surviving are six children, Gail and husband, Ray Holbrook, Newark Valley, Karen and husband, Art Doolittle, Kingsley, Pa., Kevin and wife Sandy Benedict, Nicholson, Pa., Mark and wife Terri Benedict, Uniondale, Pa., Darryl and wife Bonnie Benedict, Dalton, Pa., Lance and wife Carla Benedict, Hop Bottom, Pa.; 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Doughty, Sheila Hall, Elaine Nenarella, Marcia DeFrancisco, and Pamela Chesebro; brothers, John, Herb, and Earl Jr. Lashway; nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a son, Troy Patrick Benedict, a granddaughter, Carrie Ann Folmar, and brother Albert Lashway.
Anita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She fought a long and courageous battle and died fully surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Name of Mary Church, with Rev. Gerard F. Safko celebrating. Interment will be in the Lake View Cemetery, Jackson Twp., Pa.. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, Pa..
