Ronald E. Wilcox

Ronald E. Willcox, 78, formerly of “Out A Way” Farm on Whaupaunaucau Road, Norwich, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, NY.
Ronald was born in Norwich on April 13, 1939 the eldest child of Edmund K. and Edith Lorraine (Townsend) Willcox. He was a graduate of Sherburne High School.
Ronnie is survived by his sister, Judy Dean of North Norwich, his nieces, Lisa Doughty (William), Lynn Fink (Bruce), Lorinda Dean, all of North Norwich, and Liane Dean-Robertson (Sarah) of Louisville, KY and nephew, Larry Dean (Becky) of Norwich. Several great and great-great-nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Edmund and Edith Willcox as well as his younger brother Phillip Willcox and brother In Law, Peter Dean.
Ron, was a kind hearted gentle soul, a hard worker that enjoyed helping others and chatting with everyone he met. Whether you’d see him at the many local cattle, farm or estate auctions that he frequented, or working at the Rolling Antiquer’s Old Car Club Shows every May or even pushing carts at the local supermarkets, (just because he liked to do it), he always gave a wave and a shout. He knew everyone by name and never forgot a name. He served proudly in the National Guard during the 1960’s. He was always up for a good game of cards or Bingo. He enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword many times calling a friend or family member up on the phone to help with a clue when he got stumped. He loved the New York Yankees and stuck by them win or lose. A true fan of the game and the team.
The family would like to express their most sincere and heartfelt thanks to the doctors and caregivers of Valley Health Services in Herkimer for their care, support and friendship shared with Ron over the past 7 years.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronnie’s memory to the North Norwich Cemetery or the North Norwich Fire Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
