Robert Merle Curtis

Robert Merle Curtis, age 84, passed away peacefully with each of his daughters at his side, holding on tight to his hands, Thursday February 15th, 2018 after a lengthy battle with various health issues.
Born in Guilford, NY, he eventually relocated to Greene, NY where he lived until the very end.  Robert retired from The Page Seed Company in 2015, after 23 years of service to the company.  But the profession that he loved the most was being a farmer.  He spent 29 out of 43 years of farming at the Charles Young Round Barn Farm in Greene, NY.  He was a man that didn’t say much all the time, but when he did he spoke volumes.  He was respected by most people that passed through his life, largely due to the respect and courtesy he gave them in return. Throughout his adult life he enjoyed square dancing and wood working. But the two things he loved the most were the NY Giants and the NY Yankees.
Surviving are his two daughters Sabrina Hineline and husband Ken of Hamlin, PA and Colette Curtis of Binghamton, NY. Also surviving is his sister Joan Layne and husband Paul of Bridgewater, VA; grandsons Jaime Curtis and Shawn Hineline; sister-in-law Florence “Midge” Curtis; many nieces and nephews, and his former wife Loretta Curtis.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis Caswald Curtis and Elsie Maude (Thompson) Curtis; siblings Gertrude May (Curtis) Randall, Louis Walker Curtis, Genevieve Louise (Curtis) Clink, Ruby Marie Curtis, Elsie Pearl (Curtis) Say, Edna Ruth (Curtis) Lane, Ethel Maxine Curtis, Edward Clarence Curtis, and Joyce Anne Curtis; granddaughter Ashley Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Comfort Care Unit at Wilson Hospital or the American Heart Association.
Calling hours were at Kennedy Funeral Home Inc. at 21 N. Chenango St. Greene, NY, on March 3. A memorial service followed. Burial will take place in North Guilford Cemetery on a later date at the convenience of the family.
