Lillian M. Hurlburt


Lillian M. Hurlburt, 80, most recently of Sherburne and formerly of the Norwich and Plymouth area, passed away early Saturday morning, February 10, 2018, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home of New Berlin.
Lillian was born on October 12, 1937 in Smyrna the daughter of Bernard and Meredith (Hopkins) Tefft. She grew up in Smyrna where she attended the Smyrna and Sherburne schools. Over the years Lillian had been employed by the Norwich Shoe Co. for a period of 30 years and then on to Simmonds Precision from which she retired.
Throughout her life Lillian was a devoted mother and a hard worker. She was always there for her children and had their best interest at heart. A lover of the outdoors she enjoyed going fishing with her husband Lee, traveling to many scenic areas including Boldt Castle. She was also a member of the Smyrna Citizens Band which continues to entertain residents of the area thru the summer months.
On August 31, 1982 in Plymouth she married Lee Hurlburt who passed away April 11, 1999.
Lillian is survived by her children; Lloyd (Denise) Shaver of South Plymouth, Robert (Joni) Shaver of ME, step-daughter Deanna Russell of Norwich, step-son Lee Foote of SC, grandchildren Heather Shaver, Joseph (Amy) Shaver, Robert Shaver, Leah Currie and 3 great granddaughters. Also surviving are her siblings Darlene Haviland of Oneonta, Marvin (Myrtle) Tefft of Smyrna, Leslie White of Smyrna, James (Debbie) White of GA and Donald White of Smyrna. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides her husband Lee, Lillian was predeceased by her children Kandy Shaver and Ricky Hurlburt.
A funeral service for Lillian will be held on Friday, February 16, at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Hank Edwards will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the South Side Cemetery of Plymouth. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1pm.
Immediately following the service all are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life for Lillian at the Plymouth Fire House.
