OXFORD – Lorraine E. Maurer, 95, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Oct. 16, 2009 at Valley View Manor Nursing Home, Norwich.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1914 in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late William and Mary (Thompson) Metz. On July 13, 1940, she married Forrest Maurer, who passed away on May 27, 1987.
She is survived by her children, Robert Maurer of Newtown, Conn. and Mary Ann Longman of Longhorne, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She and her husband moved to Oxford after his retirement in 1969. After several moves related to his work, they found Oxford and loved living here. She loved to sew and made everything. She never bought a coat or dress. She was a member of the Norwich Chapter of the Home Bureau Federation for many years. She loved arts and crafts and decorated her home for each season and holiday. She also enjoyed gardening.
Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford with her beloved husband.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
