Ruth M. Potter


Ruth M. Potter (Paden), 85, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born September 22, 1932 in the town of Oxford, NY a daughter of the late Harold F. and Tessie (Miner) Paden.
She worked at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford until she retired to care for her grandchildren in Richmond, VA.
She was survived by her children, George C. Potter, Jr and wife Kathy, Richmond, VA, Christine K. Orzel and husband Chuck, Brooksville, FL, John H. Potter, Bainbridge, NY, and her adoring grandchildren, Marie Carpentier and husband Kent, Houston TX, Kimberly Reed and husband John, Norwich, NY, Denise Aucion and husband Brent, Winter Garden, FL, Karen Langfeld and husband Charlie, D’Hanis, TX, Theresa and Rachael Potter, Richmond, VA and 11 great grandchildren; her brothers and sister in law, Maurice and Lola Paden, Oxford, NY and James Paden, Oxford, NY, She was predeceased by her brother Harold Paden, Jr. Port Richie, FL and sister, Louise Goodness, Richmond, VA
Ruth worked at the New York State Veteran’s Home in Oxford until she retired to care for her grandchildren in Richmond, VA. She enjoyed knitting sweaters for all her children and enjoyed watching sports especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants. She became a UVA fan when her grandchildren attended that college.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY on February 14, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM with Rev. David Hanselman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made in her name to the HPH Hospice, 12242 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613.
