Jean Rivenburg


NORWICH – Jean L. Rivenburg, 90, a life long Norwich resident, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 8, 2009 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Jean was bom in September of 1919 in Norwich, the daughter of James and Effie Knapp Robb. Educated in the Norwich schools, she was valedictorian of her graduating class. On July 22, 1923 in Ft. Frances E. Warren, Wyo., she married Floyd Rivenburg, who survives. Over the years Jean had worked for the W.T. Grant Co. and the Norwich Pharmacal Co. Her last employment was with the Oxford Post Office, from which she retired after many years of service.
Jean will be remembered as a good woman who was very friendly and outgoing. She loved togo for rides through the countryside with her husband and enjoyed many camping trips to Fish Creek.
Jean is survived by her husband Floyd of Norwich; her children, Larry (Bonnie) Rivenburg of Norwich, Cheryl (Art) Bauder of Florida and Pat Rivenburg of Norwich; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Higgle Petry and by her brothers Malcom, Donald, James and Lawrence Robb.
Graveside services for Jean will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Nelson Park will officiate.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
