Joan A. Hollenbeck, 83, of Bainbridge passed away on Monday January 16, 2018 at Chenango Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ford, New Jersey to the late Albert and Anna McCallen. She will be remembered as someone who loved her family and was a good mother to her children. Joan also loved travelling and taking day trips to New Jersey or Connecticut. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed ceramics and crocheting. Joan is survived by her best friend and companion of 43 years, Gerald Hollenbeck; her children, Terri and Lenny Montuori, Toni Astalos, Jody and Junior Purdy, Jeffrey Gatlin, and Guy and Gina Gatlin; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and her brother, Arthur and Nancy McCallen. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son, Joseph Gatlin; and her siblings, Dorothy Mercurio, Alberta Brennan, Vivian Donohue, Albert McCallen, and James McCallen. A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Jeremy B. Stopford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 until the time of service.
