Born March 29, 1926, in Norwich, Barbara was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Bush) Baulf. She graduated with the Norwich High School Class of 1944. Barbara spent her entire career in the food preparation and service industry, first as a cook for M.H. Fishman Co.’s store, then as a cook at Gibson Primary School. Barbara then moved to St. Paul’s (Holy Family) School to serve as its cafeteria manager. She completed her food service work as the cafeteria manager at Chenango Memorial Hospital, having retired in 1986. Barbara was also a communicant of St. Paul’s Church.
On November 7, 1988, in Norwich, Barbara married Frank C. Eldred, who died in 2004. She and Frank very much enjoyed spending winters during their retirement in Florida. Barbara was also a very talented cook, and found great pleasure in making her delicious cookies and rolls for her family. She loved her family gatherings at the family’s backyard pool, and was fond of swimming in her pool and home and later at the Norwich YMCA. One could also find Barbara relaxing with a good book to read or by completing crossword puzzles.
