Kathleen J. "judy" Bell


Kathleen J. “Judy” Bell, 79, a resident of River Road in Guilford died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Pine Heights Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
Judy was born in Ashuelot, New Hampshire on February 22, 1938 the daughter of Walter R. and Alta H. (Graham) Smart. She attended schools in Winchester and was a graduate of Thayer High School.
She had been employed at the former BookPress in Brattleboro from where she retired following more than 20 years of faithful service with the company. For a number of years, she resided with her husband on a dairy farm, in Pharsalia, New York and was an active volunteer with Senior Companions located in Binghamton, New York, an organization that allowed her to assist the handicapped in Norwich, New York. She thoroughly enjoyed being active with this group prior to her return to Guilford.
Judy was a member of the West Brattleboro Baptist Church, and over the years held membership in the Broadbrook Grange in Guilford, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Brattleboro Area #2445.
Of her pastimes and interests, she enjoyed bird watching, crocheting, reading, and puzzles.
On September 15, 1956, she was married to Alden A. Bell who predeceased her in 2006. She was also predeceased by one son, Robert F. Bell, one sister, Ramona Hudson, and four brothers, Walter, Albert, Stanley, and Marvin Smart.
Survivors include three sons, Peter A. Bell of Anaconda, Montana, Alden A. Bell, Jr. and his girlfriend, Kathy Kidd Rink of South Plymouth, New York, and Russell A. Bell and his fiance, Cindy Molitoris of Guilford, one sister, Geraldine McCullock of Dummerston, two daughters-in-law, Holly Davidson, of Pharsalia New York and Carolyn Bell, of Billerica, Massachusetts, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be conducted on July 21, 2018, during the same weekend of the annual Bell family reunion, details to be announced at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Thursday, December 21 from 3 to 5 P.M.
