William "larry" Ross


William “Larry” Ross, 81 of Oxford, NY passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Arthur and Emily (Hunter) Ross. He is predeceased by Joseph Ross, Gladys Platts, Arthur Ross and Ronald Ross.
Larry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 41 years Arleen (Cantey) Ross, and by his brother James and Carol Oatman as well as their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his extended family Joe and Cynthia O’Casio, Raymond and Darlene Cantey, Richard and Tony Cantey, James and Marion Cantey, Rashida and Lila Wright, Cynthia Davis, Linda Cantey, Michela and Eric Wright, Regina Patterson, Tommy and Willie Cantey and Jennifer Dickey. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.
Larry attended Franklyn K. Lane Highschool in Forest Hills, NY. He also attended college for a year before joining the Marines and serving from 1953-1957. Larry was proud to be a Marine and to have served his country. Larry was a skilled guns man and as a hobby he enjoyed collecting guns of a wide variety. He also worked with them throughout his career as an Armed Response Agent. Larry was an avid and distinguished hunter. He hunted large and small game ranging from deer to bear. Larry was especially proud of a bear that he had hunted and later had turned into a rug. He was an accomplished fisherman, and bowler and was proud of the 1st place trophy he had won. Larry was also a Mason, but most of all he loved people. He took pride in entertaining people and making them happy, he loved his family more than anything and was a wonderful father. He was a great husband and an amazing provider. He showered his wife with things she never knew she needed.
Larry had a special place in his heart for his nephew Amos Cantey. Amos Passed away of December 8, 2017. Before Larry left this world, his wife told him he had one last job to do. She told him that Amos would be joining him in heaven and that she needed him to guide Amos one last time and to take care of him until they could be reunited one day. We love you Amos RIP.

Larry is survived by his 3 sons, Raymond Ross, Jose Ross, and Billy Ross whose whereabouts are unknown at this time.
