Fredrick D. White


Fredrick D. White, 74, of German, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at his home while surrounded by his family.
Born in German, NY, on July 10, 1943, Fred was the son of Charles and Ruby Eggleston White. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a member of the German Baptist Church. For several years, he served as the caretaker for the Westview Cemetery in German. He also served as voting custodian in Chenango Co. for many years. He was a lifelong electrician, by trade, and received his master electrician’s license in 1983. He worked at Comfort Electric in Greene for 13 years; Chenango Memorial Hospital for 15 years; and most recently at the NYS Veteran’s Home at Oxford for 10 years. For over 30 years, he operated the White Knight Saw Mill and also helped his dad on the family farm for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Claudia Hooker White; and his sons, Andy (Sharon) White of Norwich, Robert Benjamin (Christine) White of German, and Chad Evans (Christine) White of Xenia, OH. He also leaves behind a special nephew, Alton (Connie) Rudin, whom they raised, and their children Alton, Jr. and Tarra; his grandchildren, Shawn, SheaLeah, Connor, Misti, Nina, Viktor, Kaylen, and McKenzie; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry White of Norwich; sisters, Beverly Farrow of Pitcher, Sharon Fox of E. Freetown, Yvonne Brewer of Norwich, and Lois Brown of German; sister-in-law, Patricia White of German; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles White; a brother, Kenneth White; and his in-laws, Ernest and Clementine Tripp Hooker.
Funeral services will be held at the German Baptist Church on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors George McKeel, Emerson Brandon, and Daniel Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Fred may be directed to the German Baptist Church Missionary Fund, 196 Co.
