William Curley


William H. “Bill” Curley, 88, a lifelong resident of Norwich, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at UHS Wilson Medical Center.
Born on April 24, 1929, in Norwich, Bill was the son of Neil and Florence (Wickham) Curley, and was one of three children. He graduated from Norwich High School in 1947, then proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War before being honorably discharged. He would share many stories about the camaraderie there, and the friendships he developed among his fellow soldiers. After returning from the war, Bill worked his entire career at Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals (Procter & Gamble) before retiring as a chemical technician. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 189.
On June 5, 1964, Bill married his beloved wife, Beverly (Clark) Curley, who survives. They would spend 53 wonderful years together while raising their daughter. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his cherished daughter, Lisa Curley, and her companion, Dan Balewick, of Rochester. His niece, Sandra Baker, of Norwich, also survives. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Andrew Curley, and sister, Mary Lou Anagnost. There will forever be a hole in the hearts and in the lives of his family without Bill here on earth.
A funeral service for Bill will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Wilson Funeral Home, where the Rev. Gerard Lupa will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery where Bill’s service to his country will be recognized with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
