David Bartlett

David J. Bartlett of Elma, NY passed away on November 12, 2017 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY following a long illness. A beloved husband of 30 years to Penny Pennington, David is survived by 3 nieces and 1 nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, the late Connie Smith and brother, Stephen Bartlett, as well as son, Michael Bartlett.
David was born in Norwich, NY to Ralph and Helen Laden Bartlett on January 9, 1940. After graduating Norwich High School, David attended Mohawk Valley Technical School and then entered the career of insurance sales. It was not long before he changed fields and began his twenty five year career in banking operations.
Dave came to Buffalo in 1977 to assume responsibilities in the Operations area of Marine Midland Bank (HSBC), where he retired as a Vice President in 1993 following two major operations. Dave’s skills and love for the game of tennis led him to meet Penny Pennington, who became his tennis partner, best friend and ultimately his wife in 1986. Dave was a very affable, down to earth and caring man whose honesty and integrity, along with a great sense of humor, were widely appreciated. Born with only one kidney that failed over time and needed to be replaced with a transplant, Dave was eternally grateful for the exceptional care he received from Dr. Rocco Venuto, Director of Transplant and Kidney Care at ECMC and his daughter Lisa Venuto, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of David J. Bartlett to the “ ECMC Foundation: Kidney Center of Excellence”, 462 Grider St. Buffalo, NY 14215.
