Donald J. Frink


Donald J. Frink, 71, died on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at L & M Hospital in New London.
He was born in Norwich, NY on July 10, 1946. His father, Donald C. Frink and Marcia (Gilladette) Frink predeceased him. He is survived by his step mother, Bonnie B. Frink. On Sept. 13, 1969, in Gowanda, NY, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Cheryll L.Bobsein who survives him.
Donald grew up in North Norwich, New York fishing, hunting, swimming in local pond and going to Boy Scouts. His 55 gallon fish tank was his pride and joy when he lived in Navy Housing in Groton. He use to pay neighborhood kids to find worms to feed his oscar.
Donald served his country in the US Navy for 22 years as an Electronics Technician and was Honorably Discharged at his retirement as a Senior Chief. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 18 mentoring and challenging youth to become strong men. While at Boy Scout camp, Don won the champion belly flopper award. He always enjoyed his cherished canine companions throughout his life. Through it all, his focus was family which meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife Cheryll; his sons: Donald R. Frink and his wife Karyn Ertel, Scott J. Frink and his girlfriend, Maritza Bonilla; brothers: Dennis Frink, Sam Whaley, Andrew Whaley; grandchildren: Olivia R. and Aspen M. Frink and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by one son, Todd Michael Frink, in 1973 and a sister, Susan Gray.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
