Zsa Zsa Jovonne Davis

Zsa Zsa Jovonne Davis, 64, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, October 23, 2017. Born January 25, 1953, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of George Melvin Sands III and Ethel James. Zsa Zsa was raised with her brother, George, and her sister, Deborah, in the Bronx. At a very young age she was responsible and caring. She was also selfless and loyal to her family and friends. Zsa Zsa was known to put the needs of her loved-ones before her own. While maturing, her father exposed her to community-building and activism. She was an integral member of the Youth Leadership Foundation.
After graduating from Evander High School in the Bronx, Zsa Zsa attended Missouri Southern State University. It was there where she met the love of her life, Ken Davis. She graduated in 1976 and, after her marriage to Ken on July 3, 1977, she would eventually move with Ken to Chicago. After an amicable separation, Zsa Zsa continued to live in Chicago.
On June 2, 1985, Zsa Zsa proudly gave birth to twin sons, Andre James Bryant and Anthony George Bryant with their father, Victor Bryant. She called her sons her “two heartbeats.” It was through her children where she placed her love for her people and her community, and it is through her children that her spirit will live on.
Zsa Zsa moved to Upstate New York in 1999 to be closer to her family. She loved music. Her favorite band was Earth, Wind & Fire. Zsa Zsa also cherished spending time with her grandson George, attending and cheering him on in his sporting events. Her passion was with family, and she did everything in her power to make sure her two sons were loved. Zsa Zsa is survived by her sons, Andre Bryant, of Norwich, and Anthony Bryant, of Portland, OR; grandson, George Bryant; and siblings, George Sands, of Masonville, NY, and Deborah (Anthony) Resto, of Georgia.
A memorial service for Zsa Zsa will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Wilson Funeral Home, in Norwich, NY, where the Rev. Thomas G. Olson will officiate. Friends are invited to call on at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY, on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
