Margaret Carlsen


NORWICH – Margaret A. “Peggy” Carlsen, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 at her home in Norwich. Her daughter was at her side.
Born Dec. 7, 1922 on Long Island, Margaret was the daughter of the late Albert V. and Alice E. (Allen) Loog. She lived with her family in Garrattsville for many years. Later, she and her husband moved to Benson, Arizona where they resided for several years. Margaret then moved to Lakeland, Fla. and most recently to Norwich in 1999 to be closer to her family.
Margaret was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Norwich. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening.
On Feb. 3, 1944 in Maryland, Margaret married George A. Carlsen. George passed away in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Nickol and her husband, August, of Maryland, N.Y.; a son, Frederic N. Carlsen and his wife, Ann, of La Luz, New Mexico; a sister, Myrna “Pauline” Horshinski of Oxford, and four grandchildren: Denise Nickol, Eric Nickol and wife, Jessica, Jennifer Williams and Tracy Mulroy. Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a son, James and a sister, Virginia.
A memorial service for Margaret will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Margaret may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
The arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
