SOUTH OTSELIC – Gail McCall Waltz, 60, of South Otselic, passed way on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, while surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Waltz was born in Cortland on July 18, 1949 to Ernest and Delora Olds McCall. A lifelong resident of South Otselic, she was a 1968 graduate of Otselic Valley Central School and later attended college at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend. One of her greatest accomplishments was raising her family and keeping everyone together through the good times and the bad. She devoted much of her time to raising her children, grandchildren, and cooking many wonderful meals. She was an example of love and maternal strength. Her beliefs were to expect the best from all and to forgive everything and to always say a kind word. She felt it was important to have faith, to believe in angels, and to feel hope and wonder. She also felt it was important to always go the extra mile for others, to give and never receive and to forgive and forget. Always believe in good over evil. She felt that everyone had a purpose for existence.  “Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.” (Jude 1:2)
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, William F. Waltz of South Otselic; and her 12 children, Richard (Angela) Harris of Norwich, Christina Waltz of South Otselic, Colleen (Joseph) Curr of Pompey, Carin Waltz of New Woodstock, Casey Waltz of South Otselic, Catherine (Randall) Rutan of Pitcher, William M. (Lindsay) Waltz of Eaton, Courtney (Chad Taylor) Waltz of Willet, Darrin (Dayna) Waltz of McDonough, Jonathan (Alta Peck) Waltz of Cincinnatus, Cassie Waltz of South Otselic, and Jared Waltz of South Otselic. She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren and a special friend who was like a sister, Linda Pullen of Lyons.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Harris, formerly of McGraw.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in North Pitcher Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
