Jennie A. Chapin


Jennie A. Chapin, 94 yrs. old of New Berlin, NY passed away on September 22, 2017 at Chase Nursing Home, New Berlin.
Jennie was born on April 1, 1923 in Conesus, NY the daughter of Janus & Anna (Larsen) Thomsen. Her childhood was spent in the South New Berlin, NY area where she attended the West Brook one room school. On November 1, 1947 she married E. Homer Chapin who predeceased her June 1, 1982.
Jennie and her husband operated the Riverbend Golf Course in New Berlin, NY. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church of New Berlin, the American Legion Aux. Post 348 in New Berlin and the Sherburne Tianderah Chapter 631 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one daughter; Mrs. Dana (Teresa) Clarke of New Berlin and one son; James A. (Laura) Chapin of New Berlin, NY, 3 grandchildren; Andrea & Jason Peck, Alicia & Charlie Collins & Tim & Susie Clarke, 5 great grandchildren as well as many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Chris, Ejler, Clarence, John, Janus, Herman and Arnold and sister; Christa Fuller.
Calling hours will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, NY.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, New Berlin, NY with Reverend Steve White officiating.
The interment will be held in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Unadilla Valley Food Bank at St. Andrew’s or St. Matthew’s Episcopal Churches.
