Cheryl A. Ross, 68, of Knapp Rd., Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her home. She was born June 21, 1949 in Norwich, a daughter of Paul and Edith Ball Thompson and was a graduate of Norwich High School. She had worked for several area telephone companies as an operator, C&U in Norwich, New York Telephone in Watertown and AT&T in Syracuse. She had also owned and operated Maid of Honor Cleaning Service in Liverpool and Solvay at one time. Most recently, she worked at Walmart for 19 years in Auburn, Camillus, and then transferred to Norwich until retiring. She made many friends through work. Cheryl enjoyed reading, traveling and nature. Spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, was her greatest joy. Surviving are her children, Rebecca and Charles Lane of Sherburne; Gary Ross, Jr. of Walhalla, SC; grandchildren, Seth Lane and Evelynn Lane, both of Sherburne; sisters, June Thompson of Norwich and Jan Kruczek of Weedsport; brothers, Barry Thompson of Syracuse and Pat Thompson of Norwich, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Hackett, and a brother, Tommy Thompson. In keeping with her wishes, services and interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich are private.
