Carter James Rood


Carter James Rood, 14, of Pitcher, NY, passed away due to congestive heart failure on Monday, September 11, 2017, at his home.
Born in Hamilton, NY, on September 19, 2002, Carter was the son of Ashvil and Geneia Ogden Rood. He enjoyed sports and was currently a sophomore at Otselic Valley Central School where he was a member of the varsity soccer team playing the position of goalie. He was also a member of the OV basketball and baseball teams. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed snowmobiles and motorcycles. He had a passion for tinkering and you would often find him working on many projects ranging from “the cabin”, complete with cable television, to modifying an old lawnmower for speed.
He is survived by his mother, Geneia Rood; a brother, Ashvil Kevin Rood of Pitcher, and a sister, Bethany Prince-Rood of DeRuyter. He also leaves behind his paternal grandparents, Richard and Ruth Rood of Pitcher; his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Donna Ogden of Beaver Meadow; an uncle Todd (Diana) Rood of N. Pitcher; an aunt Vonda (Bob Woodmance) Rood of Cicero; and several friends, including his close friends Mike and Cheryl Loomis and Family, Mike and Brooke Eaton and Family, Jeff and Renee Adams and Family, Kevin and Lori Moon and Family, Nick Smith and Carter Smith.
He was predeceased by his father, Ashvil C. Rood, on November 28, 2013.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Otselic Valley Central School Gymnasium on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Moore and Pastor Daniel Drake officiating.
