Donald E. Dubois

Donald E. DuBois Sr., 83, a longtime resident of Pitcher passed away Tuesday evening, September 5, 2017 at the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.

Don was born on August 23, 1934 in Oxford the son of Herbert and Jeanette (Lavere) DuBois. He was raised in Oxford where he attended the local schools. At the age of 9 he moved with his family to Kirk and in 1952 moved to Pitcher where he continued to make his home for the rest of his life. A Veteran of the Korean Conflict he served his country in the United States Navy from August 1952 until his honorable discharge in August of 1955. On April 27, 1954 in No. Pitcher he married Glorianna Stone who survives.

Throughout his life Don was a hardworking, fair and family oriented man. For many years he and his wife owned and operated their own farm along with his children. Hard work was the name of the game and he made sure his children understood what it was like to do an honest day’s work. While running the farm he also worked construction and repaired diesel engines.

Politics, don’t go there with him!! He was VERY political in his views and if you entered into a discussion with him on the subject you best know your facts. Don also was a history buff, especially anything regarding the military. He was a “factual” man on many subjects. In his leisure time he enjoyed riding the countryside, especially the back road looking at the old barns which were no longer in use.

Don is survived by his wife Glorianna of Pitcher, his children Donald (Traci) DuBois Jr. of Mooresville, NC, Sally (Gerardo) Cuellar of Milpitas, CA, JoAnne DuBois of Sherburne, Joan Parks of Norwich, Ronald (Jaymee) DuBois of No. Pitcher, Shelly (Chris) Beckwith of Cincinnatus and John (Kim) DuBois of Sherburne. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his daughter Donna Miller and her husband Phil, several siblings and his son-in-law Dale Parks.

A funeral service for Don will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the No. Pitcher Cemetery.

Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 12-2.

Please consider memorial contributions to the South Otselic Fire Dept., South Otselic, NY, 13155.
