KATHLEEN S. BATES
Kathleen S. Bates, 69, of Norwich was taken by her angels on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital following a long and heroic battle with cancer which she fought so courageously.
Kathleen was born on September 12, 1947 in Buffalo, NY the daughter of George and Maida (Sisson) Ross. She moved to Norwich at an early age with her family and was a graduate of the Norwich High School. She was a 35 year employee of the Chenango Memorial Hospital having worked in various departments. A person with a mind of her own, Kathleen was a strong individual who, at times, could be a spitfire. A kid at heart she would still give her family a Christmas list of things she wanted. She enjoyed visiting her friends, cooking and playing bingo.
Kathleen is survived by her daughters Karen (Duke) Slater of So. Plymouth, Michelle Coles and Kimberly Buyea both of Norwich, her siblings Georgette Ross, Helen Bush and George (Bonnie) Ross all of Angola, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren Cory (Anda) Slater, Brian Slater, Christopher (Alicia) Slater, Thomas and Kaitlyn Coles, Tara, Chad and Kershia Buyea along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was predeceased by her infant son Philip, her great granddaughter Autumn and her sister Dolly Diuro.
A funeral service for Kathleen will be held on Monday at 7 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 5-7 pm.
