Melanie Palmer


OXFORD – Melanie A. Palmer of Canton, formerly of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 21, 2009 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1941 in Oxford a daughter of the late Maurice and Bertha (Meade) Ingraham.
She is survived by her children, Dwayne and Barb Palmer of Montrose, Pa., Betsy Palmer of Canton, Joann Palmer of Canton, and Patricia and Buddy Siefert of Oxford; her sister, Joyce Mulvey of Oxford; her sisters in law, Barbara Ingraham and Barbara Ingraham both of Oxford; her grandchildren, Nathan, Drew, Jodii, Jillian, Jonathan, David, Brian, Trey, Alec, and Samantha and 6 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Ingraham and Maurice Ingraham.
Melanie graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School in 1959. She also graduated from the BOCES Licensed Practical Nurse program in 1991. She was active with the Ladies of the Moose in Palatka, FL and the Fort Hill Post, American Legion Auxiliary in Oxford. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading and hunting. She was known for her crocheting, sewing and knitting.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, with the Rev. John Martin, pastor of the Oxford United Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Morley Fire Department First Responders, 7220 County route 27, Canton, NY 13716 or the American Heart Association.
