Anne Carnachan


NORWICH – Anne Carnachan, 77, of Beebe Avenue, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at her home.
Born March 31, 1932 in Troon, Scotland, Anne was the daughter of Frank and Annie (Madden) Kelly. She moved to Norwich from Troon in 1954 and was a self-employed seamstress for many years. She was an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and was a Vestrywoman of the church.
On March 24, 1951 in the Old Church in Troon, Anne married James “Scotty” Carnachan, who died on Dec. 8, 1989.  She is survived by three sons and their wives, Frank and Doris Carnachan, David and Debra Carnachan and Scott and Kelley Carnachan, all of Norwich; two daughters, Rosalyn and Greg Grosvenor and Kathleen Russell and her fiancé, Joseph Dunham, both of Norwich; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Cooper of Norwich. Several nieces and nephews also survive.  Anne was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Gracie Reynolds and a sister, Frances Vaughn.
A memorial service for Anne will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Rev. Chuck Taylor, pastor of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in New Berlin, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Anne may be made to the Memorial Fund of Emmanuel Episcopal Church or to Hospice of Chenango County.
