Mary Ann Dodge


SMYRNA: Mary Ann Dodge, 70, of Smyrna, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.
She was born September 22, 1946 in Tuxedo, NY, a daughter of Francis and Esther Munhall DuVall and received her education in Suffern, NY schools. On May 25, 1985, she married Harold N. “Harry” Dodge in Sherburne. He predeceased her on September 18, 2009. Mary Ann had worked for Skip’s Market in Sherburne, and at Jamesway and Wal Mart in Norwich. She had also been a daycare provider. She enjoyed doing puzzles and crafts, loved watching football, and was an avid NY Giants fan. Mary Ann loved children and held a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Mary Ann Hamilton and Jennifer Stele of Norwich; Allen “Tom” Summers and Barb Fairbanks of Sherburne; Jennifer and Arthur Fleming of Smyrna; Laura and Steve LaFountain of Stillwater; Kimberly and Brian Blackman of Norwich; Joseph Dodge of Norwich; Scott Dodge of Smyrna; and Erin Setzer of Binghamton; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Joan DuVall of New Berlin; and a sister-in-law, Jean DuVall of South New Berlin. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jason and Katie Jipson, Ashlie and Josh Edmunds, Joshua and Jacob Hamilton, Tyler and Eric Dodge, Brent and Courtney Dodge; Troy and Garrett Fleming; Makayla and Alexis LaFountain; and Jacob Setzer; eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Esther “Betty” Youngs; a brother, Edward DuVall; a niece, Elizabeth “Betsy” Youngs; and a nephew, Kevin Conklin.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, February 24, 2017 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8pm, and on Friday from Noon until 1pm prior to the service.
