SHERBURNE: Barbara E. Dale, 69, of Tracy Rd., passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY.
She was born May 28, 1947 in Oneida, the daughter of the late Jack S. and Anne Mussision Dale. She was a graduate of Georgetown High School and attended the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. Barb had worked at the Gladding Corp. in Otselic for a brief time, and then was a secretary at the Sherburne-Earlville High School from 1968 until retiring in 2005. She had also been the secretary for the United Church of Christ in Sherburne for several years. Barb was affectionately known as “The Cookie Lady” at school because of the wonderful cookies she baked and sold.
Barbara was a member of the West Smyrna Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, and was an animal lover.
Surviving are her brothers, Paul (Laurie) Dale of South Lebanon; James Dale (Cheryl Sperduto) of Durhamville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Graveside services will be held in the Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown in the spring.
