Jeanne B. Walsh


Jeanne B. Walsh, 88 of Norwich, formerly of Oxford passed away on February 6, 2017 at Norwich Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born on May 23, 1928 in Glens Falls, NY a daughter of the late Philip and Ethel (Beers) Bowen.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Gardner of Norwich; her children, David and Pamela Walsh of Scotia, Nancy L. and Richard Walsh Smith of Erie, PA, Dennis Walsh and Barbara O’Neill of Silver Springs, MD and Philadelphia, PA, and Brian and Christine Walsh of Baldwinsville; her grandchildren, Erin and Matt Parker, Andrew and Kristen Walsh, Steven Walsh, Rose Walsh, Marcie and Michael Waldron, Thomas and Joanna Cashman, Amy Cashman, Bradley Cashman and James Walsh. Seven great grandchildren also survive.
Jeanne graduated from Albany State Teachers College and received her MS degree from SUNY Geneseo. She was the High School librarian at Oxford Academy and Central School for many years. She managed the Oxford Senior Center for several years. She was a very active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the Oxford BPW and the Joseph Jefferson Book Club. She served on the Oxford Memorial Library board for several years. She enjoyed camping with her family and was a member of the Finger Lakes Trail Hiking Club. She was a member of the Broken Squares, Square Dance Club.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Oxford United Methodist Church, with Rev. Diane DeLuzio officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY on Thursday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford United Methodist Church, PO Box 506, Oxford, NY or the Oxford Memorial Library, PO Box 552, Oxford, NY.
