WAYNE NELSON STONE
Wayne Nelson Stone (Stoney), 72, of South Plymouth, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. Wayne was born in New Berlin on August 7, 1944 to the late Cecil and Helen Stone. He grew up in Otselic and went to school there. He began his career in 1968 with the Chenango County Highway Department, retiring after 32 years of service. After his retirement, Wayne worked for Superior Ambulance for five years. He also served his community as a volunteer fireman with Plymouth Fire Department. He loved to camp, fish, hunt, bowl and spend time with his family and friends. On June 16, 1978, he married Audrey Marshall Marvin in South Plymouth, who survives. Other survivors include his children, Timothy Calvert, of Plymouth; Linda Sue Stone, of Norwich; Richard Stone, of Plymouth; Brent and Vicki Stone, of South Plymouth; Timothy and Becky Marvin, of Smyrna; Irad and Mandey Marvin, of Tennessee; John Marvin, Sr., of South Plymouth; his brother, Larry Stone, of Norwich; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews he adored. Along with his parents, Wayne was also predeceased by his son, Brian Stone. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Jeremy Stopford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
