Rosella Brown


GEORGETOWN – Rosella C. “Rosie” Brown, 89, formerly of Route 26, and Madison Lane Apartments in Hamilton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.
She was born Dec. 27, 1916 in Sinnamahoning, Pa., a daughter of James R. and Pearl Belle Cole Curns. Her family moved to the Georgetown area where she received her education in local schools. On April 21, 1939, Rosella was united in marriage to Milton L. Brown in Erieville. He predeceased her on Jan. 22, 2001. Rosie had worked at TACO in Sherburne; the Gladding Corp. in South Otselic, and Continental Cordage in Cazenovia. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing cards. She also loved reading and her flowers. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Palmer of Port Byron; Lori and Wayne Law of Oxford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy Brown of Lebanon; Larry and Bridget Brown of Georgetown; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Stella Hubbell of Agawam, Mass.; Mary and John Moryl of Sherburne; sisters-in-law, Polly Curns of Smyrna; Pauline Brown of Eaton and Joyce Brown of Dewitt; a brother-in-law, Lewis Tallett of Otselic, 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Dale and Benjamin Curns, and a son-in-law, Gary Palmer.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Willcox Cemetery, Smyrna.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Madison Lane Apartments, Resident Activities Fund, Madison Lane, Hamilton, NY 13346; or to the NYS Veterans Home, Resident Activities Fund, 4211State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830.
