Thomas E. Palmer


Thomas E. Palmer, 68, of Norwich, passed away on January 16, 2017. He was born on August 12, 1948 to Charles W. Palmer and the late Lillian “Towhie” Palmer. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashley. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley Palmer; his father, Charles W. Palmer; his daughter, Shannon Palmer and Bob Johnson; his son, Shawn and Suzanne Palmer; his grandsons, Drew Nelson, Dakota Nelson, Bryan Palmer, and Matthew Palmer; as well as several other family members, and hunting, fishing and beer buddies. Thomas was a deputy for the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department and also assisted the Oxford and Norwich police departments. He also worked locally as a feed salesman and a programmer and spent the last few years as a dog control officer for the town of Oxford. Tom was also an avid hobby farmer, raising Herefords and horses and his beloved Romeo. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and skeet shooting. A memorial service for Thomas will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 20, at Faith Bible Church, 45 Butler St. Oxford, with Pastor Norman Holtz officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich.
