Mark S. Huckabone

MARK S. HUCKABONE
Mark S. Huckabone, 52, of Norwich, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his residence that was the result of a brief thyroid condition.
Born on February 4, 1964, in Norwich, Mark was the son of the late Samuel and Irene (Russell) Huckabone. He spent his childhood growing up with his two sisters in the town of Preston. He attended Oxford schools for his education. As an adult, Mark earned his GED, something he was greatly proud of, as was his family.
Mark spent a great deal of his life working for Laral Management at the Hillside Apartment Houses. There he did maintenance work for all the residents. Mark very much enjoyed meeting all the people there and took pleasure in his work. More recently, he worked for A&D as a driver for medical transportation. Mark also worked for a short period of time at CWS where he met his future wife, Vicki. He also worked the 3rd shift at the Norwich Shoe Company for a while.
Mark loved life and all it had to offer. He liked to fish and especially enjoyed hunting during deer season. Mark was an avid Jeep collector and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Of course, he was known by many as a huge Harley Davidson fan and loved anything to do with Harleys. Mark also enjoyed being a father to his three boys, teaching them the do-s and don’t-s of the world, taking them fishing, and teaching them to swim.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Vicki (Cummings) Huckabone of Norwich; sons Tony (Kayla) Wakefield, of Texas, John (Courtney), of Cayuga, NY, Dylan (Ariel), of Norwich; granddaughters, McKenna, Madison, and Kloe Wakefield, all of Texas; and his sister, Audrey Furlong, of Hamilton. He is also survived by his closest friends, Mary and Clayton Quinn, of Norwich, and his loving and trusting companion dog, Gizmo. Mark was predeceased by his sister, Deborah Schaap
A funeral service for Mark will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Wilson Funeral Home, where Rev. Brad Keator, pastor, Chenango Christian Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
