Brian R. Burt


Brian R. Burt, 56, of Greene, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on January, 8 2017.
He was pre-deceased by father, Charles D. Burt; special grandparents Leon and Eliza Copeland; father-in-law, Lynn Ross and brother-in-law, Ronald Ross.
Brian is survived by his wife, Deb Burt, Greene, mother, Joyce Burt, Greene; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Dan Montgomery, Greene; granddaughters, Harlee Montgomery, Greene, Logen Montgomery, Endicott; mother-in-law Alice Ross, Oxford, 3 brothers-in-law, Ed Ross (Lois), Sherburne, Lynn Ross Jr.(Sue), Pharsilla, Mike Ross, West Winfield; 6 sisters-in-law, Rosie Blackman (Donnie), Preston; Donna Garrutto(Jim), Oxford, Ginny Blackman(Milt), Pharsailla, Betsy Smith (Norm), Greene, Barb Blackman (Rod), Oxford, Laura Monk, Oxford, brother-in-law, Michael Mullenax(Cyntha), Greene, lifelong friend Michael Baldo, Greene and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Brian retired from the Town of Greene after 15 years of service.
He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, driving tractor trailer, and tractor pulls. Brian was also a part of the Brisben Fire Department for over 40 years serving as chief for 20 of those years. He was part of the Chenango County Fire Advisory Board for many years, serving as both President and Vice President. Brian had served as a Zone officer for the Chenango County Search and Rescue Team and was in the Chenango County Fire Police Association. He was also very proud to be one of the founders of New York Chapter 40 Red Knights Motorcycle Club in Chenango County and held the rolls of Road Captain, Vice President and most recently President for the Red Knights.
Brian was always willing to step up to the plate if anyone was in need. He truly was anamazing person who was dedicated to his family, friends, and to helping the members community.
A heart felt thank you goes out to Lourdes Hospice for all of their support.
A memorial service will be held 4:00pm Saturday at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene, New York 13778. Friends of the family may call Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. A Firemans service will be conducted at 9:30am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be be sent to Brisben Fire Dept 2617 State Rt. 12 Brisben, NY, 13830.
