Cathleen M. (Cathy) Hawkins, 63, of Laurel, MD and formerly of Norwich, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Cathy was born on September 7, 1953 in Sheepshead Bay and was raised by her mom Ann and her aunt and uncle, Anthony and Elizabeth Cantirino. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Brentwood and Berkley Secretarial School on Long Island. Cathy worked at the VA Hospital in Northport, LI until she retired. In September of 1987 she moved to the Norwich area where she gained employment with the Chenango County Dept. of Social Services. She has spent the past few years in Laurel and was in the process of moving back to Norwich.
On August 9, 1980 in St. James, LI she married John Hawkins. Besides her husband John of Norwich, Cathy is survived by her children Daniel Hawkins and companion Christine Cresci of Norwich, Meghan Burchill and husband Bryden of New Berlin, Traci Sayler and husband Leon of Sound Beach, LI and John Hawkins and wife Tricia of East Northport, LI. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren.
There will be no formal services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
