Norman Stevens, 78, of New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Norm was born September 2, 1938 in Norwich the son of Herbert and Cora (Donnelly) Stevens. A hard worker all of his life, Norm had worked various jobs. Over the years he worked on the Al Evans farm, had worked as a supervisor for Ford Home/FBY Construction which built many of the homes on Sunset Drive in Norwich. He also ran the Blue Jay Diner with his sister, had worked for R&L Logs for several years and ran the “Shop Across the Bridge” with his wife Pat for 20 years. He was a very skilled carpenter and loved fishing.
On August 8, 1991 he married Patricia Bresee who survives. Besides his wife Pat, Norm is survived by his daughters Candy & Tom Petry of So. New Berlin, Laurie & Dave Alexander of Sapulpa, OK, Lisa & Rob Gould of New Berlin and a son David Stevens of Brooklyn, 5 step-children several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Dorothy Marrone, Doris Percell, Retha Beckwith, Leona Brown, Kaye Dalton, Dianna Bennett& Kathryne Come and brother Hubert Stevens.
Norm was predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
A service for Norm will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 11 a.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor Robert Decker will officiate.
