Mary Anna (palmer) Stevens


Mary Anna (Palmer) Stevens, 94, of Norwich and Columbus, GA, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, in Columbus.
Mary was born on April 21, 1922 in Dimock, PA the daughter of Grant and Neva (Brown) Palmer. She grew up in Montrose, PA and on May 28, 1942 she married Robert D. Stevens who passed away October 14, 1993. Mary lived for many years in Johnson City where she worked for IBM. She retired in 1981 after 35 of service.
Mary’s family was her first priority. She was fortunate to spend much of her retirement years in Norwich and Georgia with her family. Over the years she was an avid golfer and prior to her retirement took painting classes and became very accomplished thru her retirement years winning many awards for her work.
Mary is survived by her daughters Karen Kamsoke and husband Richard of Norwich, Marcia Buchta and husband Fran of Columbus, GA., her grandchildren, Kim (Kamsoke) McCarthy and husband Mark of Norwich, Brian Kamsoke of Dallas, TX, Kurt Buchta and wife Kelly of Opelaka, Ala., Chad Buchta and wife Ali of Rochester and great grandchildren Justin Buchta, Bryce McCarthy, McKenzie Buchta, CJ Buchta and Caylee McCarthy. Also surviving is her sister Barbara Birchard of Nazareth, PA.
Besides her husband Robert, Mary was predeceased by her brothers Ron, Brownie and Ted and sister Lois.
A memorial service for Mary will be held on Saturday, December 17, at 11 am from Vestal Hills Cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Hale, Pastor of the Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich will officiate. This will be followed by a luncheon at Tony’s in Endwell.
