Brian E. Barre


Brian E. Barre, 73, formerly of Norwich and most recently of Manlius, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital of Syracuse.
Brian was born on February 8, 1943 in Afton, NY the son of Hollis and Isabel (Yenalitis) Barre. Spending the early years of his life in Afton, Brian worked on his uncle’s farm and attended school in Afton. He subsequently moved to Madison where he attended and graduated from the Madison school. Brian made his home in Norwich for many years and was employed by P&G from which he retired 15 years ago. Realizing a lifelong dream, Brian and his companion Rebecca, opened the Coin and Currency Shop located in Norwich. Together they operated the shop for 10 years until 3 months ago when ill health forced him to retire.
Brian was an avid sports fan his entire life. While in school he played basketball, baseball and football. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed watching sports programs and the news on television.
Brian is survived by his companion of many years Rebecca LaDue of Manlius, her children Cassie Hunt and husband Marshall of Manlius and Patrick LaDue of Binghamton, grandchildren Griffin, Reagan and Madelyn. Also surviving is his sister Diane Barre of Binghamton, Aunts Eva Downey, Anna Kirchbaum and Elizabeth (Betty) Hipkiss, Uncle Stanley Werbella and his former wife Shirley Stump Barre. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins also survive.
Brian was predeceased by his Aunts Helen Taylor and Esther Norris and Uncle’s Jerome and Joseph Werbella.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-6pm.
There will be no formal funeral services.
