June Horton Tuttle


June Horton Tuttle passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2016. June was born on June 26, 1939 to Kenneth and Mary (Payson) Whaley in Norwich, NY. She was a lifelong resident of North Norwich where she raised her six children. June thoroughly enjoyed gardening, farming and baking as well as volunteering at the Chenango County Historical Society, the Paperback Exchange at the Chenango County Museum and researching family genealogy. Her professional career included Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Chenango Memorial Hospital, Cornell Mastitis Lab and Quest International as a Laboratory Technician. She was the North Norwich Town Clerk and a member of the Town Board for many years as well as a member of the North Norwich Garden Club. June also successfully obtained her license to be a Ham Radio Operator. June was fiercely independent and had a great love for her children, grandchildren, extended family and church family. June was a lifelong member of her beloved North Norwich United Methodist Church where she sang like an angel.
June is survived by her loving children; Kathleen Armitage, William Horton Jr. (Chizu), Kelley Horton (Brian Benn), Patrick Horton (Becky Cruikshank), Kimberlee Roberts (Linc Yerton) and Daniel Horton (Jackie Brunschmid). Also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Armitage, Lilie Horton, Yuki Imai, Diane Horton, Billy Comeau, Jesse Comeau, Thomas Horton, Erik Roberts, Sara May (Travis), Kristyn Roberts, Craig Roberts III and the Roberts children’s father, Craig Roberts II. June is also survived by her loving and devoted sister Janet Decker (Richard), her brother Richard Whaley (Rosie), Aunt Jessie Labor (William), several cousins, nieces and nephews and former husband Richard Tuttle, best friend and partner in crime, Dorothy Doing. June was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Mary Whaley, the father of her children William Horton Sr. and granddaughter Andrea Armitage. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at the North Norwich United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 22 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the North Norwich United Methodist Church, the Chenango County Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
