M. Susan English, 89 of Greene passed away on November 15, 2016 at Hilltop Nursing Home. She was born on March 15, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late Harry and Ida May (Sigafoos) Foulk. On November 23, 1952, she married Paul English, who predeceased her on November 22, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Paula Williams of Oxford, Jonathan and Kathleen English of Piffard, Karen and Thomas Zabadal of St. Joseph, Michigan, Christopher and JoAnn English of Greene; 11 grandchildren, Sarah and Matt Leach, Luke and Ashley Williams, Paul and Lacey Williams, Seth and Sarah Williams, Katherine and Evan Mankoff, Parker English, Jeffery English, Carter English, Stacia Zabadal, Lorilea Zabadal and Melissa Zabadal; 9 great grandchildren, Clara and Reid Leach, Emily, Haley Addison and Mason Williams, Maggie and Daniel Williams and Oliver Mankoff.
She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church of Greene, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served as a deaconess. She taught school at Hooper School in Endwell and then at Greene Central School, where she retired in 1989. She was a member of the Greene Retired Teachers, where she was a past president. She was also a member of the Chenango County Retired Teachers. She was a former member of the Greene Lionettes, Chenango Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and The Red Hat Society. She sang in the Endwell Community Choir, traveling to Europe twice. Family was the most important thing in her life. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling in their camper. They enjoyed their camp in the St. Lawrence River on Island 9. They were also members of the Round Robin Group.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Central Baptist Church, 41 South Chenango St., Greene, NY, with Rev. John Pooler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Central Baptist Church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
